iPhone 14 review

The Apple iPhone 14 is the least expensive one you can buy now. Its main draw is that it costs $200 less than the iPhone 14 Pro. It’s the first iPhone you should think about if you don’t want to spend a lot of money on an iPhone 14 Pro and don’t need the extra money’s three cameras or always-on screen. On the inside is a brand-new phone. The bigger iPhone 14 Plus has the same new internals as the standard iPhone. It is the first 6.7-inch iPhone that wasn’t a Pro model, so the price didn’t go up to match. Now, many more people can fit the most significant iPhone in their pockets.

Price and Availability

On September 7, 2022, Apple showed off the iPhone 14, the iPhone 14 Plus, the iPhone 14 Pro, and the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Unlike most Android phones, there is no way to add more RAM beyond the 6GB that comes with the phone. However, 6GB is more than the 4GB that came with the base iPhone 13, so that’s a plus.

Design

The 6.1-inch iPhone 14 looks a lot like the iPhone 13. The only difference is that it comes in new colors. It looks like nothing has changed about its aluminum frame, button placement, stereo speaker grilles, Lightning port, or screen. Even though the body is similar, the iPhone 14 doesn’t quite fit in an official iPhone 13 MagSafe case. The body slides in fine, but the iPhone 14’s two-lens camera array is slightly more extensive (as are the lenses themselves).

Camera

Compared to their predecessors, these are good cameras with better sensors and low-light performance. The front camera, which is also 12MP, now has autofocus. This should make it easier to take group selfies.

A new imaging pipeline makes all of the cameras better. The Photonic Engine gives Deep Fusion neural image processing a higher priority than before, so it can work with images that have not been compressed.

Photography with the iPhone 14 is good, but after testing the iPhone 14 Pro, we miss being able to use optical zoom and close-up shots. Still, this level of photography and the high quality of the photos should be enough for most users.

Battery

As I said above, the iPhone 14 can play videos for 20 hours, stream videos for 16 hours, and play music for 80 hours. We could use it on a single charge for more than a full day. The iPhone 14 comes with a Lightning-to-USB-C charging cable but doesn’t come with a charger.

You can buy a 5W adapter or spend a little more on Apple’s 20W charger, giving you a 50% charge in 30 minutes. The phone can also be charged with a MagSafe or Qi wireless charger.

Performance

Hey, it’s the mobile CPU from last year! It’s a powerful chip that has consistently beaten the best Qualcomm has to offer, and it has a lot of headroom, so mobile games like Asphalt: Legends and PUBG run smoothly. You can edit 4K videos, browse the web, and do everything else you can do with the faster and more powerful A16 Bionic in the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max. The difference in the real world is likely to become apparent only after years of use.
